The Friends of Bolton Valley Nordic & Backcountry operates under a formal agreement with Vermont State Forest Parks and Recreation to maintain historic and approved trails on state forest land. In collaboration with the State Foresters, we work to keep these trails open without causing erosion or other negative impacts. We may not establish new trails or glades without state approval. 

Trail work is conducted in the fall, typically before snow is on the ground. Additional trail work days are added to the schedule as necessary. If you choose to join us, please remember to stay on the marked trail and cut only brush, downed and/or dead trees within skiable lines.  Volunteers should only perform work within their skill level and available equipment. Group leaders will provide guidance to those new to trail work. Thank you!
